Though I don't watch much TV, I've been using a throwaway account for TVNZ+. For visitors using uBlock Origin, the experience has been delightfully ad-free, for years. The updated software pushes ads with no escape, making it unwatchable. So I've stopped watching. Instead I've discovered a treasure trove of old movies at the Internet Archive. Hitchcock, Kubrick, Cassavetes... I'm having fun. It's refreshing to watch classics free of charge and ad-free, while our public service broadcaster enshittifies itself as badly as any commercial operation. With Seymour announcing that he's going to stack the RNZ board with loyalists, I fear the days of any serious public service broadcasting in NZ are numbered.
