I recently had a "heart-skip-a-beat" moment with a legacy Java project. The project depends on some old Maven repositories that are long gone. The only reason it still built was because the dependencies were cached in my ~/.m2/repository. I had never updated the dependencies, and that had kept the project alive. Then my hard drive died. No backup of the Maven cache. The project stopped building. Dependencies were suddenly "unresolvable". #java #maven #pom #backup
