2/ went up Acorn trail from Wrightwood late Tuesday night so I could already be up on PCT in the morning and get an early start for day one. Hope for the day was to get up and over Mt Baden Powell and past all the snow before dark. Nice morning color with great views of Iron and Pine mountains.

3/ views got more dramatic approaching and hiking up Baden Powell. Just wore trail running shoes for the three days since I anticipated no snow except this area. Carried an ice axe and microspikes though which helped for the final mile to the summit that was just steep boot pack. Nice juxtaposition to the rest of the hike and satisfying lunch up top where it was dry (op pic).
