What makes me happy is that local small models are now good enough to be smart auto-complete. I hate agentic AI coding, it devours my soul. But just a smart autocomplete that tries to predict what I was about to type and just helps me to stay in flow is a good thing, and it can be done on a consumer GPU, demanding less watts to run than any AAA videogame.

Employing junior devs is literally cheaper than employing AI agents, if your AI agents are not subsidized. great job, big tech.

I forgot to address the elephant in the room. THEY STOPPED SELLING THEIR SUBSCRIPTIONS, BECAUSE THEY LOSE TOO MUCH MONEY. I know many people who recently decided to buy Claude Max subscription, and promptly got banned. "Don't they want my money?" — they ask after receiving a refund. Well, despite you paying one hundred bucks each month (which is kinda A LOT) they will lose much more money. So in the end, they will get more money if they ban and refund. Just because they would cut their expenses doing so.

@inex@pony.social I believe the 3 -> 7.5 factor jump doesn't mean what you think it does: the new Opus 4.7 consumes significantly more tokens, so Copilot is adapting to that (so it's Claude itself going to shit really)
