@cmthiede@social.vivaldi.net @fancysandwiches@neuromatch.social The fun side of this quote is that Norbert Wiener literally is the reason we have something called „artificial intelligence“. John McCarthy organized the famous 1956 Dartmouth conference and selected the name AI to keep Wiener and the established term „Cybernetics“ out. That way he could collect research funds, didn’t have to listen to Wiener (who was quite „self confident“) and his opinions.
