I just cancelled my mother’s medication deliveries and walked out of the pharmacy with a bag full of all of her prescription medications, including pain killers. They asked her name, but no confirming details and not even my name — I suggested they ask me for ID.

    Everywhere is like this. And you should care at least out of a sense of self preservation. Anyone could walk in, say they’re your family member, say you’re incapacitated, and do… apparently anything on your behalf. If you have a public facing job, please think about this next time someone asks to do something on behalf of someone else. It’s not “mean” to say no.
