@redthewizard@wandering.shop the Silmarillion does strike me as being more or less completely unfilmable, but I may be wrong.

@redthewizard@wandering.shop it's funny though, some of my favourite bits of Tolkien are things I read so long ago that I can't remember if they are in the LotR appendices or the Silmarillion

@IanMoore3000@mastodon.ie I mean, it's kind of like saying the Bible is unfilmable, with all its separate books and individual stories scattered over centuries. You wouldn't do A Film of the Silmarillion unless you were told "okay You have three hours to cover all of this material and NO MORE THAN THAT". You'd do the separate stories such as were being published through Christopher Tolkien's lifetime, The Children of Húrin, The Fall of Gondolin, Beren and Lúthien etc.
