@outofprintarchive@retro.pizza I used to have a pretty extensive collection of Saturn shmups, sourced mostly through Yahoo auctions Japan. I had connections there that could order the games and ship them to me. And this was around ‘99 to the early ‘00s before people were going crazy for old titles. Everyone wanted the new stuff, so I was picking up these games in auction bundles for a small fraction of what they go for today. Then hard times came, and I had to start selling stuff off. If only current me could go back in time and slap past me in the face. :blobcatnotlikethis:

  • @68000@corteximplant.com I’m still kicking myself for similar things. One that really stings and i can’t get over is having to sell my collection of brand new Game & Watches when i was home with that severe burnout for 18 months. My sister and her shitty husband, the ones who haven come across any right wing conspiracy that they didn’t like, pushed me to sell them as they would get 10% of the price. She hasn’t worked a day in the past 38 years and he’s done the same for like 25 years now as well. I knew it was a terrible deal and the guy was a scammer, but i couldn’t pay my bills, so i let all 15 of them go for €3000. Today I wouldn’t be surprised if i got that for a single one at least. These were completely mint. Picked them up myself in 1992 or so from an old stock find at a game/toy shop i used to always go to and knew the owners very well. 😭 One of the reasons I never want to sell games again.
