    @seatek@hard.blue Honestly, a bit of both. Density is lower in Detroit proper, but whole swathes of the city never recovered from urban flight, fiscal collapse, recessions, etc. So there are also a lot of food (and other service) deserts in the city proper. In the suburbs, there's a lot of mixed use developments - retail, office spaces, small (and large) manufacturing. There might be spots (Ferndale, which is in the first ring of suburbs around Detroit, is an example) where it's walkable to food in all varieties - but it's a lot harder out where I live (basically the outer ring of subrubs/exurbs).
