@danirabbit@mastodon.online Homelessness did start as a mental health problem back in the 60’s when Reagan emptied the State Mental Hopitals and reneged on the promise of providing funding to cope. It changed to housing predominately, sometime in the 90’s. The counties, who have responsibility for chronic MH treatment consistently report the need for supportive housing as their #1 issue. But, the mentally ill do not constitute the majority of the population.
