Yes, there has also been criticism about compliance from (queer) leftists and looking at the current state of politics in much of the Western world, especially towards queer people, I absolutely understand the fear. Ultimately, I do not share it here. A birthday or age field has legitimate uses, like the name field in userdb and passwd, that I personally find more sensitive.

This brigading and campaign of racist and homophobic abuse, and death threats, has a very clear origin from a nazi open sewer, and anybody who joins in with them is very clearly picking a side.
