@trans_lykanthropie@meow.social sarsaparilla is a major flavor component in root beer! In fact, the "root" of root beer comes from it being made with sarsaparilla root and sassafras root (it is no longer made with sassafras root after it was discovered that sassafras root is carcinogenic)
sarsaparilla is basically root beer to the extreme, with less other stuff added (root beer usually has some amount of anise, wintergreen, and vanilla, among other things; sarsaparilla has less of these)

@trans_lykanthropie@meow.social if you have ever had IBC root beer, that brand is fairly close to sarsaparilla; the big-name brands like barq's and A&W are fairly far from it -F
