@muminitaly@mastodon.scot @NormanDunbar@mastodon.scot @wisegreyowl@mastodonapp.uk I was looking at some results of the wards in my local council. In person votes typically 40%, postal votes around 80%, with the final turnout depending on the ratio of in person to postal.
Mrs Vicarvernon wanted to vote but needed to be away on election day to help family but finding out too late to organise an alternative to her in person vote. I'm not sure how compulsory voting copes with this scenario.

@vicarvernon@mastodon.me.uk @muminitaly@mastodon.scot @wisegreyowl@mastodonapp.uk I'm basing my opinion on Australia where voting is already mandatory. How the situation you mention would be handled, I don't know. Perhaps some sort of legal offence! Similar, perhaps, to forgetting to renew your MOT or vehicle tax? Needs more thought! Cheers.
