I can see the argument, but i think is hard to buy that this is a reaction to unity being shady, because the way it operates is way more restricted and provides the creator with even less control.
I can't help but think roblox like models are intrinsically predatory for the developers.
As i said, i am a fan of garry's technical talent, but anti consumer choices like this are not a first
i would have 0 issues if the game and the engine they offered were different things

@YoSoyFreeman@mastodon.gamedev.place oh no, I meant strictly from the technical standpoint, not a business model thing. I see them as being angry about the Unity software itself. Re. the last point, I know that you can use the engine to export standalone games, not tied to the platform. But it's hard to ignore that the primary use is still the platform.
