@rakslice@mastodon.social @cstross@wandering.shop Moving router manufacture to the US means that Americans can stop worrying about what kind of creepy spyware the Chinese government is putting in our routers and start worrying about what kind of creepy spyware the US government is putting in our routers. Frankly, I trust the Chinese to at least implement something that won't interfere with the basic functions of the router. Who knows what kind of vibe-coded nonsense US-approved routers will end up shipping with?
