@kraftner@mastodon.social @adactio@mastodon.social You don't. The polling staff have a list of names, yours gets crossed off as you're handed a ballot. Voter fraud is rare - there's no point giving someone else's name if you're eligible to vote. If not eligible, then whose name could you possibly give that would be guaranteed not to have voted already? Why risk exposing yourself for one vote? There were 33 cases of voter impersonation in 2019, but 16,000 turned away in 2024 due to no ID. It's disproportionate.

    @kraftner@mastodon.social @adactio@mastodon.social The UK has no compulsory photographic ID scheme (and nor do we want one), so we have to pay and jump through hoops to get suitable ID. Many can't afford it. It is disenfranchisement.
