@IndyRichard@mastodon.scot @TCMuffin@toot.wales i once was asked why I don't like Thatcher if she did so much to dismantle communism.
I showed them a quote when she told Gorbachev that free Poland is not in the interest of Britain and explained it's because Poland was so desperate for foreign currency, that she could get coal from Poland for pennies and fight the striking miners in Britain.
They said "see, she was buying your coal".
I have no (socially acceptable) words for some people.

@IndyRichard@mastodon.scot @TCMuffin@toot.wales ah and by the way that conversation between her and gorbatchev was already after the round table negotiations and first semi-free elections happened in Poland. Mazowiecki was already the prime minister then.
