I was a junior dev engineer for a subcontractor on fuel-rod vibration measurement in Brit AGRs! Some still running, I believe. The reason nuclear is so beloved of right-wingers is its need for top-down control, centralisation and funding. Most haven't got a clue about the functionality of the system, they just want the control, and of the rest of the system _through_ it. Including the weapons spin-off. Distributed renewables -- the sheep got out of the pen!
