Finally I upgraded iMac 2010 from High Sierra to latest Ubuntu 26.04. It was long overdue as modern browsers abandoned High Sierra years ago. Nail to the coffin was Minecraft, which refuses to run anymore. Yes, it's my daughter's machine. Ubuntu works fine: Wi-Fi, fans, temp sensors. The only issue was disappearing mouse cursor. Fix is MUTTER_DEBUG_DISABLE_HW_CURSORS="1" in /etc/environment (or KWIN_FORCE_SW_CURSOR="1", if you run KDE). I leave it for posterity, it took me a good while to figure out. #YearOfLinuxDesktop #wayland
