@solitha@mastodon.social I hadn’t heard of that, interesting! I would assume it’s mostly larger, and particularly intelligent parrots species that are capable of learning to use this. Luckily our birds live in a flock of 10 and have lots of social interaction irl anyway. :)

@lindenshieldarts@mastodon.social Ah, glad to hear you have a flock! The study didn't mention conures as far as I can see; I'd be willing to bet, though, that many isolated pet birds would get some benefit out of such calls, even if they weren't quite bright enough to initiate them.
