@nxskok@cupoftea.social Mastery-based education is only "still grading" if you redefine "grading" to make your claim a tautology. Rather than being a serial variable (0% – 100%), it becomes a constant (always 100%). There is no "or you don't" unless the learner decides to give up: there is only "mastered" or "not yet." If the learner gives up, that result is not assigned by the teacher; it is just where the student chose to leave off, unless and until they decide to resume. But that violates the standard definition and defeats the sociopolitical purpose of grades.
