@Wintergr33n@lingo.lol I started going to record shops regularly in 1981. I don't ever remember seeing them for sale in these shops . . . though they might've just been kept behind the counter? But I do have memories of seeing 8-track tapes for sale at truckstops & highway rest stops when on long drives across the American SW with my parents. Country & western music is disproportionately represented on 8-track, a lot of which was no doubt aimed at truck drivers.
