@mike@thecanadian.social I’m not a Leafs fan per se, so I may be speaking from an angle of ignorance, but I suspect a number one pick for Toronto isn't the same blessing it is for other franchises. Toronto is arguably the toughest market in the world for a young player; the media and fanbase demand immediate, flawless production. In a market like that, it might be better to build through trades for veterans who have the skin to handle that level of scrutiny. Otherwise, you risk bringing in a top-tier talent only to have the city's expectations suck the oxygen out of the room before they get a chance to take a breath and find their stride.
