    @synte@social.toplap.org I'd say that a scene of a certain type won't mix well with a scene of an other type. Sometimes, it's about our own expectations and also, our own ego (which is, a lack of self-confidence basically) and also different language (it can be body language). I know this is fairly common to hear music is an universal language but Ah-hA, it's not that universal. To me, scenes are always very opaque and every scenes pretend it's not at all :)

    @synte@social.toplap.org Just been to 2 electronic music related events the past 2 weekends. One managed to have a 50/50 split, but the other was completely male dominated in spite of the lead organiser being female. My observation was that the one which focused on fully integrated audio/visual performances invited more female talent (and thus more singing as a consequence), while the other had a more hardware synth focus which sadly has reduced female participation.
