I think I just walked in hear from searching about VR stuff, but you can 3d print a PCVR headset and assemble with off the shelf components for under $150 USD (there’s an article on hackaday), or buy used headsets for $200-300. It’s not unobtainable to most, I think.

Can get a used quest 2 for like $100, not crazy but not nothing. Unfortunately not powerful enough to view the more detailed rooms or avatars, or so I’ve heard.
