@eruwero @scalzi the things these guys think about are quite informative. They are convinced AGI is almost here, even though we barely understand anything about how self awareness occurs in animals (including our species). They think spending on conferences on AGI is better than, say, mosquito nets to prevent malaria because they might save trillions of people who don’t exist.

@eruwero @scalzi they remind me of the super smart but utterly asocial people I went to engineering school with, very confident in their own wisdom and completely baffled by actual humans.
