The Universe has to be much older than 13.8 billion years. There is large-scale, fine structure that takes time to build that existed almost instantaneously after the purported big bang.
I've never been happy with the big bang theory because it's ad-hoc, kludgy, and non-predictive. I think something else must have happened.

The problem with the big bang is that it doesn't really give a good reason for life to exist. I mean if there's a mechanical procedure to create life from basic elements, then we should be able to repeat it - but we cannot find any such thing.
