@Zeta@meow.social @Sharkey@meow.social the main thing that stands out was talking about finances and not every furry has $8,000 up front to spends on a costume yet, so they may start with a $2,000 head, and that led to the discussion of poodling that seemed to me to enforce the idea that furry is about costuming, and even if someone doesn't have a costume, that it's still aspirational a big clue was when the host asked what the difference was between furry and cosplay, which also enforces the idea that it's about costuming y'all touched on literature, music, and video games, but it seemed like it was something in addition to being a furry, which did nothing to dispel the idea that furry = fursuiting nearly every example the host brought up about what a furry might do seemed to be based on the premise that it's someone wearing a costume, usually in public

@Mycroft@meow.social @Zeta@meow.social hard to say without digging into the episode in how it was edited, but I'll say that this was intended as part of a series that has multiple episodes focused into varied aspects of the fandom. I went into this episode understanding our part was to field questions to a casual audience, people who've seen the fandom and want to scratch the surface/break the ice a bit along with perspective from a new person jumping into the fandom. People like to ask about the fursuits. I thought we'd made a point of how it's not important and that most of the fandom doesn't suit, but I understand I could have been stricter on that given the amount of time dedicated to discussing suiting. I'll be more clear on the subject next time. They have another episode coming up which is supposed to dig into the literature of the fandom more, given it's from the perspective of a writer/author I suspect you'll see a more satisfying dive there.
