@collective_truth@mastodon.social The point is that consumer culture prioritizes style for items abled people use daily, and de-prioritizes style in necessities for disabled people - things people have to look at or interact with every day. It contributes to feelings of being overlooked and unvalued. It others people because it assumes that the majority of people will not become disabled, when that is just not true. If you live long enough, you will outlive your body's ability. It's a byproduct of a culture that used to have ugly laws and hide the disabled away in homes or asylums.

  • @CorvidCrone@kolektiva.social Well yes and maybe no (works in more than 1 way) Because... while I agree the priority isn't great as a #mentality, the whole market advancement is different too Wheelchairs will get there eventually but you can see why soap is easier to style / change and more easily funded financially. Naturally as an able-bodied product or not, all people probably use it and perhaps it's research will get there. Don't want to sound unsympathetic as I'm not a fan of money and banks (reality).
