@alexleduc@mstdn.ca It's legitimately a new trend. Much of it is attributed to a bunch of enormous streamers lately publicly switching to Linux, like Pewdiepie and performance testing sites like Gamer's Nexus switching to Linux distros for testing. You can outright see the growth in steam, in 2017 linux had a 0.5% share of 67 million users, aka 335,000 users. Today it's over 3% share of 132 million, or 3,960,000 users (a 10x growth). The numbers show people are more interested than ever and trying linux.

@alexleduc@mstdn.ca You can test it somewhat by browsing youtube with a privacy-oriented browser without logging into it, or look at the Trending videos on Newpipe or Pipepipe on your phone to get an idea of what regular people are watching..
