Walking into the photo studio in Wiesbaden in US gala uniform with his German girlfriend? This is why I fear he might not be the father. I strongly suspect the photos were taken post-war.
Nevertheless, it would be great to clarify who Edward was and what was between them.

@azett@mastodon.online yeah, I'm always hesitant to recommend genetic testing but in a case like this it might be your best bet if Edward IS a blood relative, you would have rights to request various records in the US (service, birth and death certificates, etc) if he's not, then you are limited to public records
