this is an old idea from the 1970s for starting industry in space - NASA then did experiments with microwave receiver arrays and a helicopter with an emitter and found out that beam divergence and scattering makes it inefficient
now they say laser but it'll have similar problems - in effect, each microwave or laser array in orbit would be somewhat of a weapon
