Since this is very dependent on your locality, there is also a "no mow may" in Ireland, which might provide better information for your location than the British page: https://biodiversityireland.ie/no-mow-may/

@muenchnerin@sueden.social Thanks a million. Yeah, I'm in Ireland here (should have mentioned that in the post), so I'm definitely thinking of No Mow May, all right. I have a scythe, so I can decide how long or short, but I think I'll leave it until June instead, maybe (and then mow with caution!).
