@swelljoe@mas.to If they're going to go afield on other things, I think one of those things should be a a kernel that uses a different concept to dramatically improve security.
Well, we know that Linus already passed on microkernels, but in hindsight that was probably a big mistake. Incidentally, the top 2 phone vendors from China no longer run Linux as their base operating system; both Huawei and Xiaomi have switched to microkernels in their products.
The level of curiosity in western FOSS circles about this sea change is next to nil. But at least the Linux Foundation has its 9 page listing of corporate names at the start of their reports... that's really somethin.
