@Alrecenk@peoplemaking.games oooh that's pretty clever! Your math knowledge is way ahead mine. Is that multiplication trick with exp(log(A)+log(B)) coming from tropical geometry, where + is min or max and * is normal addition?

    @mathemagical@mathstodon.xyz No, I don't know anything about tropical geometry. I just knew that quaternions are geometrically equivalent to 3x3 orthonormal matrices, matrix multiplication is not commutative (the problem), matrix addition is, log and exp exist on matrices, and so I figured there had to exist such an operation for quaternions as well, and it turns out it's not that difficult to compute (unless the AI has lied to me, I haven't verified it experimentally). Well, it's still trig functions, but it's not iterative.
