@etherdiver@ravenation.club @jwcph@helvede.net They don’t want to learn a skill, they want to accomplish a task. So the waste is irrelevant to them because they are interested in results, not efficiency.

@holdenweb@freeradical.zone @etherdiver@ravenation.club I agree, but it still doesn't make them not wrong - note that the OP quotes "the ONLY way...", which is what these people keep saying & it's just plain wrong, making things worse than the already bad excuse of using a tool with massive collateral effects because "it's the only way". "Is there a way to do this that doesn't burn somebody's house down" should by rights be a far more common consideration than it clearly is.
