@gangrif@social.undrground.org It's important to note that PeerTube isn't trying to be a YouTube replacement, even though that's how users often frame it.
The only thing they really have in common is that they let you upload video and other people can watch them. Other than that their goals, methods, and uses are very different.
Think of PeerTube as "busking" and YouTube as being a food server. On PeerTube, if someone likes your videos, they can tip you. With YouTube, if you hustle you get a cut with tips.

@gangrif@social.undrground.org Also, PeerTube is MUCH smaller than YouTube. You simply wont get the same numbers because of that. But, you can get the same loyalty. If people like your content, they are more willing to donate on PeerTube because most viewers know that it's the only way to compensate a creator for their work. Now if they actually do or not, is another story. I left YouTube because I was a brine shrimp in an ocean of whales. Now I'm clownish in an aquarium. Bigger fish. Smaller pond.
