If you look at the "philosophy" of the people really deep into this, it is often just recycled christian apologetics. I want to know how many of these people are non-religious, from religious communities, that came to their beliefs by working backwards from downstream culture. e.g. Roko's basilisk is just Pascal's wager + assuming an absolute answer to the teletransportation paradox. @aparrish@friend.camp
