it was kinda annoying because the only image loading functions that came with the firmware are display 8x8 sprite, and if you want anything larger, they included a _JPEG_ decoder. (mmm compression artifacts) so i had to hand roll a BMP decoder which, went well (if i had updated the firmware instead of using a years old version i would have seen the PNG decoder but oh well)
