Hydrophilus piceus (fam. Hydrophilidae) [ES] Lo vi anoche bajo una farola cuando volvía de tirar la basura y eché una carrera hasta casa para coger la cámara. Había poca luz y el bicho no paraba quieto, así que ninguna foto salió muy bien. Esta me gusta porque se ve el precioso color cobrizo de los pelos de las patas. Es un escarabajo acuático grandote (5 cm) y difícil de ver, así que me hizo mucha ilusión encontrarlo. Fotografiado el 09/05/2026 en la provincia de Cáceres. [EN] I saw last night it under a lamppost when I was coming back from throwing the rubbish out and I inmediately ran home to take the camera. Light was dim and the bug didn't stop for a second, so I couldn't take a good photo. I like this one because the precious color of its leg hairs is well noticeable. It is a big aquatic beetle (5 cm) and it is not easily spotted, so I'm happy to have found it. Photographed on 2026/05/09 in the province of Cáceres (Spain).
