@fds@mastodon.social @torsteinv@mastodon.social @atpfm@mastodon.social In a weird sad way, this truly lackluster “update” retroactively makes buying a Studio Display in 2022 a good investment. The Studio Display in 2022 was much nicer and not that much more expensive than the only other 5K option at the time, the LG UltraFine. Given no one should be tempted to “upgrade” to this year's model, many owners will end up using their 2022 model for the better part of a decade.

    @jackwellborn@mastodon.social I'm not sure it's meant to be an upgrade. It's a minimal upgrade to basically keep everything in sync with thunderbolt 5 so it feels like it makes sense when selling it to new buyers. I could be wrong but it's totally a casual consumer product which I assume they sell enough of to continue. The Pro XDR is gone and there's no 32” option so it does feel like they're kind of ignoring pros which does feel a bit odd but maybe they hope they can sell more Vision Pros.
