If you didn’t know he was a grifter by now, you certainly deserve what you get.

@CrabAndBroom@lemmy.ml 2026-05-10 01:43
Lol, what a bunch of stupid assholes. Zero sympathy, fuck them and I hope they lose even more money in the future by still being stupid dickheads.

@mvilain@fedia.io 2026-05-09 23:35
Were these people stupid enough to purchase the phone with cash or a check and not a credit card? I'm sure VISA, M/C, and AMEX will refund the charge and do a chargeback. If they were stupid enough to wait more then two months (most companies have a 60 limit on contested charges), then they deserve to be shafted.

It was always going to be some sh** AliExpress Android phone anyway. There was definitely also going to be some kind of spyware/ harvesting happening Here in Australia, this would likely be fraud by deception

Dude, even Ea Nasir delivered something to his customers.
-
@jaybone@lemmy.zip 2026-05-10 03:15
Didn’t something similar happen with the Trump watches? Shocking.
-
@atrielienz@lemmy.world 2026-05-10 00:02
How many times do they need to be grifted for them to learn?
-
@iamthetot@piefed.ca 2026-05-10 03:17
The fact that Trump or any of his family will never see the inside of a cell is the single largest thing that destroyed my faith in humanity.

@HertzDentalBar@lemmy.blahaj.zone 2026-05-09 23:31
Many deposits were from people who just wanted to see if it was a scam 🤣
-
@TemplaerDude@sh.itjust.works 2026-05-10 03:49
So they just stole their money.

@BeardededSquidward@lemmy.blahaj.zone 2026-05-10 02:18
They are so easily grifted it would be sad if they weren’t so malevolent.

His base is like trader NPCs in video games. They buy everything he’s selling to them. Then they un-ironically call everyone else NPC for being slightly skeptical.

Anyone else find it hard to believe that there were 600,00 orders for this. That feels like another money laundering situation. Edit: 600K

Hey, you guys wanna invest in a Ballroom? Only $100 to start.
-
@TyrionBean@lemmy.ml 2026-05-10 04:09
This just warms my heart. 😃👍 Ahhh…if only he stole even more of their money. And then they’d end up on the street, he’d be finally impeached, and then imprisoned, and those idiots might get back 5% of the money they lost, so they’d still be screwed.

@SocialMediaRefugee@lemmy.world 2026-05-10 05:06
Normally I feel sorry for people who get scammed but in this case shitty people getting scammed by the scammer they inflicted on the rest of us don’t get my sympathy.

The vehicle that we today call the Volkswagen Beetle was at its inception called the KdF-Wagen. Nazi Germany had this whole scheme where you could save up stamps in a little booklet and when you got enough stamps, you could redeem them for a car. No one ever got their cars. Sure they built a few, but they went to government officials. It was a scam. KdF-Phone.

In a logical world, this would result in 600k less electors for the orange buffon, wouldn’t it?

this just in: conman cons again. More at 10.

@PhoenixDog@lemmy.world 2026-05-10 10:46
Instead this will just encourage the more. “We wouldn’t scam us again! He learned what he did wrong the first time!”

Bro are these journalists high? Read the terms and conditions… If you cancel your deposit before completing a purchase, you may request a full refund. Refund requests must be submitted through Trump Mobile customer support prior to completion of a final sale. If Trump Mobile cancels or discontinues the Device offering prior to sale, Trump Mobile will issue a full refund of the deposit amount paid.

As I pointed out a year ago, this phone never existed. They just waited until it was too late to do credit card chargebacks before pulling the rug. I’ve seen it on Kickstarter dozens of times.

If you willingly gave money to a two-bit con-artist who is widely known for robbing or defrauding nearly everyone he has ever done business with, then you got what you had coming.

@zeroConnection@programming.dev 2026-05-10 11:03
LMAO. I LOVE IT. Such an American thing for a president to scam his own voters. Literally scam them out of money. They will moan a bit and then say “I would vote for him again” 🤣🤣🤣

Why would Obama do this? 😭
-
@Treczoks@lemmy.world 2026-05-10 06:59
Double-good. Idiots are parted from their money, and get irate at Trump. Only drawback is that the money is now in the hands of the Trump clan, but given the mass robbing of the public and budget they are doing, this will amount to small change.

>For nearly 600,000 Americans who trusted a brand built on the Trump name, the gold phone has become the latest entry in a long record of ventures that took their money and delivered nothing. They wanted a Trump experience and they got one. Could argue they got what they paid for.
-
@BarneyPiccolo@lemmy.cafe 2026-05-10 12:40
I can’t believe they got screwed by Biden AGAIN!
-
@odama626@lemmy.world 2026-05-11 06:16
I mean, I have a feeling that a lot of these pre-orders or $100 deposits were probably bulk purchased by CEOs as bribes.
-
@Luciano@discuss.tchncs.de 2026-05-11 00:52
Why do people really fall for this? And even worse: Who buys a Trump phone?
