@distrowatch@mastodon.social 1. Air Pollution A. Personal level: I've mild asthma and thusly moved from a big city area to a semirural one, which has indeed solved that air pollution issue. B. Population level: we've got the technology to & a few systems setup that make heavily polluted areas rather clean & can convert those particulates into jetplane fuel & more of these systems should be built & deployed, beyond continuing existing filtering systems being used. (*Sidenote I may get a biodeisel truck to use for a few years in hauling 8-10ft lumber & loads of mulch on 30-60mile trips home.) 2. AI A. Personal level: There is one use case, which is voice recognition speech to text- on Linux pretty exclusively known as "whisper" to my knowledge, which is a helpful tool when my spinal & hand arthritis flare sizably, but even there the key is my ability to turn it on & off when needed, as even that can be more of a hindrance than help. The above set though isn't what's being pushed as an AI into everything, what instead is being pushed is the type of AI that just continually slows my computer use down & makes it more difficult, this is why I am fleeing it similarly to my 1500 mile home move & unlike that physical house move, I don't care how often I must repeat it to avoid the pollution that integrated nonoffswitch gives my computer systems. B. Population level The push of these has been too sudden & strong which is why many other people, including those clinging hard to windows, have been looking for & making tools to avoid AIs embedded in their systems. The question to me thusly isn't "if" but exactly "when" will we see this trend of entities pushing AIs reverse, because while few are angrily & loudly against them, the fact is that fewer still truly love using them... and most people hate being bullied &/or pushed into anything!
