It's used like the Official Secrets Act to excuse "stuff" the authorities get upto. One of the conditions was to waive the right to redress for actions taken against you by those acting on behalf of the government. That's right. I had to sign agreement to the (dodgy civil & military contractor) company's GDPR policy. I didn't. And, then a building in Birmingham made a GDPR waiver part of visiting there. I had to sign the waiver to access an "employment programme" with Serco. I fucking snapped.
