So now some European entity apparently wants to start a new social network. Completely independent of US tech giants and all that fancy stuff. Sounds cool right? Yeah, but to use it you have to show us your ID card. We will remove it after wards, we promise, but you have to show it. Why in the world should anyone be interested in such a thing? Why should it be ok if a European company does the same thing that we complain about when US tech giants do it? To be clear, in my opinion, it doesn’t matter which country does this, it’s *always* bad. A social media site you casually post on shouldn’t need your ID card under any circumstances. Also I am sure that this will be an accessibility hell again, knowing the European identity companies we have here. But to test it I would have to trust them enough to send them my ID, which I don’t so yeah. Great idea right out of the window.
