@liztai@hachyderm.io Ah, sounds similar to Canada. I'm not really clear why we have such tariffs, I guess to curry favour with the USA. There isn't any purely local manufacturing, but maybe we assemble EVs from US or Japanese companies.

@bremner@mathstodon.xyz ours is not to curry favour. We have a car industry trying to get EVs off the ground but they suck at it 😑
