Abdi Nageeye (4/NAGEEYE) is an interesting one. He’s the 2024 New York champion and ran the Dutch NR of 2:04:20 in London last spring. He’s also won Rotterdam twice. He’s run Boston twice before, unremarkable finishes of 8th in 2016 and 7th in 2018. If the door is open for him to win, he can take that opportunity; the question is whether it will appear for him.

The third former champion in the field is Lemi Berhanu (5/LEMI). He’s the 2016 champion, celebrating his 10th anniversary, and though he has a 2:04:33 PR, it’s from 2016 in Dubai. He’s still winning, though, including a 2:08:10 victory in Beijing last November and a 2:05:14 last May in Prague - in fact, he’s won both Prague and Beijing two years in a row, and both of those years (2024 and 2025) he also ran Mumbai in January, winning in 2024 and finishing 6th in 2025.
