The men’s field is also almost numbered by PB, and led by two former champions; the only thing breaking up the ordering is that defending champion John Korir (1/JOHN) has a PR of 2:02:24, while Benson Kipruto (2/BENSON) has a slightly faster PR of 2:02:16. Ten men have sub-2:05 PRs, but unless conditions are perfect and someone decides to go for broke, Boston tends to be a race that rewards tactical savvy more than raw speed.

We all watched John Korir run the 3rd fastest Boston in history last year after taking a hard fall at the start that ripped his bib number off. He’s already got a pretty good resume, including wins in Valencia (December 2025), Chicago (2024), and Los Angeles. He is also the only Boston champion to follow a sibling in winning in Boston; his older brother is 2012 champion Wesley Korir.
