@tragivictoria@mastodon.catgirl.cloud That's exactly what I was saying: this is bad news! I hope either the gtk developers back off this arm-twist, projects move to gtk forks, or gtk fades into irrelevance outside of Gnome itself.
Historically gtk has been a portable, noncontroversial toolkit choice. This is manifestly not the case any longer.

@tfb@mastodon.bsd.cafe Nobody is going to change anything just because BSD distro with 5 users doesn't want to move to wayland. I heard BSDs are migrating to wayland just fine, so what's the point of this made-up drama? Seriously, x11 is just legacy technology. GNOME already dropped X11, Plasma will drop it early 2028, many more desktops are also migrating over to wayland. When it comes to toolkits, I doubt Qt is gonna keep its x11 backend much longer either.
