@liamoc@types.pl I feel your pain. Was an academic for a long time....
My feeling over time became "I'll help, teach and encourage the students who turn up... the ones who don't, too bad".I wpuld immediately adopt this mindset with a turnout of, say, 80%. When attendance is 10%, though, isn't there a possibility that somewhere along the way the system had students believe that showing up to class does not really matter? If so, I am happy not to waste time on students who clearly choose not to try of their own volition, but I would feel guilty not helping students who might have been tricked into not trying.
